Invitation Austrian Society

Dear colleagues and friends,
We are delighted to announce that Vienna has been selected as the site for the
6th WCNR by the Board of the WFNR. The congress offers an extensive programme, covering
topics ranging from science and theory to practical applications, as well as
public health issues. Hence, it is geared not only to medical doctors, but all
professional groups in the field of neurorehabilitation, as well as health
sector politicians.
Vienna’s tradition of hospitability and bringing together different cultures
has developed over several centuries, thanks to its history as the capital city
of the former Austrian multinational monarchy. Its experience in the successful
organisation of congresses dates back to the historical Congress of Vienna in
1814/1815. Meanwhile Vienna has reached number one in the international ranking
of both ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) and UIA (Union
of International Associations), thanks to its outstanding infrastructure for
congresses and its extensive range of tourist services. Due to its geographical
position in the centre of Europe, Vienna has always been a hub of European
east-west traffic and it impresses with its exceptional accessibility. Vienna
International Airport serves as a destination for more than 60 airlines and
ranks top for reliability in Europe. Broad highway and railway networks stretch
from Vienna across Europe to the boundaries of the continent.
The 6th WCNR will take place in the historical congress centre of the Hofburg
(Imperial Palace) in the heart of Vienna, surrounded not only by the stately
historical buildings of the city centre, but also by a splendid boulevard, Ringstrasse,
with its extensive range of hotels and numerous top-class restaurants.
The scientific programme is supported by a varied cultural programme, including
a gala dinner in the historical city hall, visits to concerts, the opera and
museums, as well as excursions to historical and scenic beauty spots in the
surroundings.
We are convinced that you are going to enjoy the Viennese Congress in 2010 with
its scientific and cultural programme and retain lasting memories of it.
